Before we arrive
- Drain it completely. Most tubs drain from a spigot at the base with a garden hose, so start the night before.
- Have it disconnected from power. If it's hardwired to its own breaker, that's a job for an electrician.
Crew and equipment
Every job runs out of a white Ram 1500 pulling an 8 × 12 ft dump trailer with 4 ft sides, about 14 cubic yards of space. Most jobs get a two-person crew, and we do all the lifting, loading and sweeping up.

Do I need to drain it first?
Yes. A 400-gallon tub holds more than 3,000 pounds of water, and nothing can be cut or moved until it's empty. Start draining the night before.
Why do you cut it apart?
A typical six-person tub is about seven feet across and weighs 500 to 900 pounds empty, and most side gates are about three feet wide. Cutting it into sections lets it go out through a normal gate.
Who disconnects the power?
You do, before we arrive. Most hot tubs are hardwired to a dedicated breaker, and disconnecting that is an electrician's job.
